Tasting Notes: The Mortellito Niuru Frappato is a vibrant and fresh coastal Sicilian red, offering a lively interplay of red fruits and savory elements. Expect bright flavors of strawberry, cranberry, and pomegranate, complemented by distinct notes of herbs, earth, and a characteristic saline minerality. The wine is light-bodied with zesty acidity, a subtle texture, and a clean, crisp finish that reflects its limestone-rich terroir.
Estate History: Mortellito is a family-run winery located in the arid, coastal Val di Noto region of southeastern Sicily, near the Ionian Sea. Winemaker Dario Serrentino, hailing from a family with a long farming history in the area, established the label in 2014 after years of selling his organic grapes to other esteemed natural winemakers. The estate is dedicated to natural winemaking practices, employing traditional "albarello" or bush-vine farming methods without the use of chemical interventions, with the goal of producing transparent wines that are true expressions of their unique location.
