Tasting Notes: Vino Rosso Notti Stellate is the crown jewel of Etnella’s boundary-pushing winemaking: Etna Rosso meets Southern Rhone. Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappucio tango with Grenache and Syrah, creating a wine with singing acidity, smoky tannins, concentrated dark fruit, and a zing of pepper. 18 months in barrel have softened the wine’s mouthfeel and imparted notes of sandalwood. Only 1500 bottles are produced.
Estate History: Founded in 2008 by visionary Davide Bentivegna, Etnella produces wines that are deeply terroir driven. He works just 9 hectares of vines, scattered across Etna’s eastern slopes. All his wines are spontaneously fermented—using the local yeast present on the grape skins to kickstart fermentation, rather than mass-produced winemaker’s yeast.
