Tasting Notes: Old vine, serious Sangiovese from the heart of Chianti. Gabriele Buondonno strikes a perfect balance between structure, softness, and brilliant red fruit. A light amount of Canaiolo, Malvasia Nera, and Colorino are blended with the Sangiovese for extra spice and a deeper color. Notes of raspberry, red plum, star anise, earth, and red cherry.
Estate History: Gabriele Buondonno and his wife Valeria Soldana run this tiny fattoria on an ancient UNESCO heritage site called Casavecchia alla Piazza. While the typical range of Tuscan agricultural products are produced, the wines are anything but typical. Buondonno's wines, produced on an entirely organic farm, present the more elegant and earthy personality of Sangiovese.
