Tasting Notes: Tignanello is an intense ruby red in color. On the nose, notes of ripered fruit harmoniously blend together with blackberries and wild berries; delicate and perfectly balanced with hints of vanilla, chocolate and spices. The palate is rich and vibrant with soft, elegant tannins that give the wine great complexity, finesse and balance, and a long and persistent finish.
Estate History: Tignanello is a wine that needs no introduction to most wine lovers. Created by the Antinori family in the 1970’s - 1971 was the inaugural release - this was the first time Sangiovese was aged in the small ‘barrique’ barrels. This was a revolution in a bottle, as this area of Tuscan was steeped in tradition and the idea of wood aging and blending with international grapes caused an uproar at the time.
