Tasting Notes: Vincenziana 2021 shows the beauty of the vintage. Capturing the generous fruit and freshness. Notes of tobacco leaf, ripe raspberry, and subtle cocoa. The acidity is present on the finish and lifts the wine.
Estate History: In Barbaresco, just above the famed Ovello commune, there is a tiny commune by the name of Vicenziana. Here we find the humble Giamello family who have been cultivating Nebbiolo, Barbera and Pinot Noir for some time. Four generations ago, before the current era of wine production, the family maintained a diverse farm that included grain fields, forests, pastures for livestock, and, yes, small plots of vineyards. At the time, most of the grape harvest was sold, leaving just enough behind to produce wine for the family’s consumption. For three generations Giamello’s wine production remained exclusively for the family. When the farm passed on to the fourth generation, Silvio Giamello, he sought to expand production and share with the world the wine once reserved for the family’s own table. Though production has expanded, they continue to produce wine the only way they know. All vineyard work is natural and chemical-free. The vinification process has remained entirely traditional-- the results are as excellent as they are unpretentious.
