Tasting Notes: The San Fereolo Langhe Rosso Austri redefines what is possible from the Barbera grape. Aged virtually untouched for 8 years in barrel and bottle, the result is a complete powerhouse of a wine. In a rush of almost sensory overload there are a calvacade of fruit notes, black raspberry, black cherries, cassis, wild plums, and also wild flowers, tar, smoke, leather, barnyard, pipe tobacco, with some spice from the oak. There is a mineral power alongside some earthy funk in a red that bends rules to be sublimely delicious.
