Tasting Notes: This vibrant Grand Cru Champagne displays a light yellow-gold hue with a fine, persistent effervescence. The nose offers a complex bouquet of ripe, fleshy fruits, particularly Mirabelle plum, layered with notes of spice, honey, and candied orange peel. On the palate, it is fresh yet powerful, with rich, mouth-filling flavors of yellow peach, baked pear, and a subtle hint of pepper. This a dry, focused wine with a creamy mousse, balanced by a high, refreshing acidity and a long, chalk-driven mineral finish.
Estate History: The Bara family has been rooted in the village of Bouzy since at least the 1600s, with Auguste François Bara arriving in 1833 and the current property being established in 1860. It was Paul Bara, the father of the current owner Chantale, who first began selling Champagne under the family brand name in the 1950s, a rare move for a récoltant-manipulant (grower-producer) at the time. Today, the house remains a family-owned, seventh-generation business, managed by Chantale Bara, who continues to craft highly-regarded Champagnes exclusively from their 11 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards in Bouzy, a village widely recognized as the capital of high-quality Pinot Noir in the Montagne de Reims.
