Estate History: The Weingut Niklas winery is a family-owned and operated estate located in the village of St. Nikolaus in Kaltern, South Tyrol (Alto Adige), Italy. While the area has a winemaking tradition spanning potentially 900 years, the winery in its current form was established by Josef Sölva in 1969. The estate is now run by the second generation, Dieter Sölva, who learned the craft from his father and whose son Michael is already contributing to the family business, ensuring the continuation of their "down-to-earth but innovative" philosophy. The family is known for an meticulous approach that combines Germanic precision with Italian warmth, crafting wines that are true expressions of their unique location in the foothills of the Mendelgebirge mountains.
