Estate History: The Miani winery is a highly regarded, small producer located in the village of Buttrio within the Friuli Colli Orientali region of Italy. The estate is run by Enzo Pontoni, a reclusive and meticulous winemaker who took over the family vineyards from his father, Nello, in 1989. The family began bottling their own wine in 1981, having previously sold grapes and made wine for personal consumption. A former engineer, Pontoni applies precision and an uncompromising philosophy to viticulture, employing rigorous selection processes and extremely low yields to produce concentrated, profound wines.
