Tasting Notes: The Luigi Maffini Kleos - meaning “famous” in Greek - is 100% Aglianico. In the glass it's a vibrant ruby color, and it opens with a blockbuster nose of black cherries, plums, currants with white pepper and a hint of cedar. This peppery, rich red has fine tannins and a long, decadent finish.
Estate History: Luigi and Raffaella Maffini first bottled Kratos in 1996 using fruit from a small family vineyard planted in the 1970s. They gradually grew their estate to 15 hectares. The estate is in Cilento, a coastal area south of Naples protected by a national park designation and has been recognized as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Maffini’s wines are equally distinctive, crafted with an eye to terroir, minerality and elegance.
