Tasting Notes: This Barbaresco captures the essence of its terroir through a harmonious bouquet of wild raspberries, dried cherries, and crushed roses. Subtle undertones of leather, anise, and balsamic herbs add layers of complexity to a wine defined by its elegance and precision. On the palate, it exhibits a firm yet refined structure, featuring fine-grained tannins that provide a sophisticated grip without overwhelming the fruit. The finish is remarkably persistent, leaving lingering traces of savory minerals and sweet spices that invite further contemplation.
Estate History: Founded in 1971 by Giuseppe Cortese, this family-run estate is deeply rooted in the prestigious Rabajà cru of Barbaresco. Giuseppe, having worked as a cellar master for other notable Piedmontese producers, had the foresight to focus on estate-bottling at a time when many families still sold their grapes in bulk. The winery remains a strictly familial operation, currently managed by Giuseppe’s children, Pier Carlo and Tiziana, along with Tiziana's husband, Gabriele Occhetti. They continue to champion traditional methods, such as long macerations in concrete tanks and aging in large Slavonian oak barrels, to produce wines that authentically mirror the limestone-rich soils of their historic vineyards.
