Tasting Notes: The Franz Gojer Kerner Karneid is a unique expression of the Kerner grape. There are two harvesting stages with different goals: an early stage to enhance the wine’s acidity and freshness and a later stage to add richness and complexity on the nose and the palate. The Karneid vineyard faces west/north-west on a slope with 550-600m of elevation. The soil is a light sandy porphyr-based with ice-age deposit of granite, basalt and gneiss. The wine is vinified dry with aging on the lees until spring. Intense orchard fruit flavors and aromas of peach and citrus fruits with traces of nutmeg. This is a classic Sud-Tirol wine, very linear, medium-bodied and displaying minerality and a racy and stimulating acidity.The wine matches nicely with light summer pasta dishes, grilled fish, and it also makes an excellent aperitif.
