Tasting Notes: The Franco Terpin Quinto Quarto Bianco Sivi (Sivi is a local term for Pinot Grigio) is from a single vineyard in Monte Calvario and is planted on a soil locally called “Ponka”, clay-filled marl which was originally part of the Eocene sea bed. Fermentation is spontaneous, and a week of skin contact adds color and texture to this beautiful Ramato style Pinot Grigio.
Estate History: Franco Terpin founded his estate in San Floriano del Collio of Friuli in 1994. Today the farm stretches across twelve hectares of wine production. Franco grows Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Ribolla Gialla, Tocai Friulano (Jakot), Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc. Franco's wines reflect his way of linking nature, vineyard, and winemaking. Everything is connected to seasonality, without forcing, allowing the wines to express place.
