Tasting Notes: The Cordero di Montezemolo Barolo Bricco Gattera has an intense garnet-red color. The nose invokes a sense of warmth with notes of jam, raspberry, licorice, cherry and camphor.Velvet palate of remarkable structure with fine tannins and persistence.
Estate History: Since 1340, 19 generations have managed the Monfalletto property in the town of La Morra, the epicenter of Barolo wine production. Today, the property is still entirely family-run by Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo and his children, Elena and Alberto. The historical single-body vineyard has always been cultivated with various local varieties, selected and distinctly planted according to sun exposure, type of soil, and altitude. In 1965, Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo obtained an important lot of old vines in the center of the famous Villero area in Castiglione Falletto, which are used for the Barolo Enrico VI. Over the years, further acquisitions and long-term leasing of vineyards have been made, not far from the winery headquarters in Alba and Roero. Currently, the total vineyard area on which grapes are grown to produce all Cordero di Montezemolo wines is 51 hectares (126 acres).
