Tasting Notes: The Colombera & Garella Bramaterra is a compelling expression of Alto Piemonte Nebbiolo grown on the volcanic porphyry soils of the Bramaterra DOC. Dried rose, iron, dark cherry, spice and mineral earth build on a structured yet elegant palate with firm, fine-grained tannins and a lingering, saline finish — a wine of real depth and complexity from one of the region's most exciting estates.
Estate History: Colombera & Garella is a partnership between Umberto Colombera and Cristiano Garella, two of Alto Piemonte's most dedicated advocates for the region's ancient Nebbiolo-based DOCs — Bramaterra, Lessona, and Coste della Sesia. Farming biodynamically on the volcanic porphyry hillsides near Biella, the pair works with minimal intervention to restore the reputation of wines that predate Barolo in Italy's vinous history, producing small-production bottles of remarkable character and terroir expression.
