Tasting Notes: Castrum Roche Langhe Rosato is produced entirely from Nebbiolo grapes and when drinking you are reminded of this by the level of beautiful acidity that is found towards the end of the first sip. Loaded with notes of cherry, wild herbs, and hints of orange peel, this well-structured Rosato is ready to be paired with dinner.
Estate History: When Isacco Costamagna inherited his grandparents’ land in Torriglione in 2014, he began his journey in winemaking, echoing the legacy of the estate and the footsteps of his winegrowing grandfathers, Gagliosso Enrico and Costamagna Luigi. Initially, his operations delivered its harvests to Trediberri and with consistent expansion and assistance from his great-uncle, Isacco extended his vineyards to its current 2 hectares. In 2021 he transitioned to his own production of Langhe Nebbiolo under the label, Castrum Roche. A nod to the historic name for Torriglione. In 2022, the winery continued its expansion with a renovation and a pointed promise to introduce a Barolo that reflects Isacco’s ethos of minimal intervention, zero pesticides, and sustainable viticulture. For now, two wines are imported from the estate, and reflect not only deep historical connectivity to the region, but also a youthful perspective of the future. It is through Isacco’s philosophy that past and future intermingle so harmoniously in the glass.
