Tasting Notes: Castrum Roche Langhe Nebbiolo is a harmonious blend of fruit, acidity, and tannins. Ripe cherry and raspberry flavors dance gracefully across the tongue, accompanied by lively acidity that lends freshness and vibrancy to the wine. The tannins, firm yet supple, provide structure and grip, imparting a satisfying texture that lingers on the palate.
Estate History: When Isacco Costamagna inherited his grandparents’ land in Torriglione in 2014, he began his journey in winemaking, echoing the legacy of the estate and the footsteps of his winegrowing grandfathers, Gagliosso Enrico and Costamagna Luigi. Initially, his operations delivered its harvests to Trediberri and with consistent expansion and assistance from his great-uncle, Isacco extended his vineyards to its current 2 hectares. In 2021 he transitioned to his own production of Langhe Nebbiolo under the label, Castrum Roche. A nod to the historic name for Torriglione. In 2022, the winery continued its expansion with a renovation and a pointed promise to introduce a Barolo that reflects Isacco’s ethos of minimal intervention, zero pesticides, and sustainable viticulture. For now, two wines are imported from the estate, and reflect not only deep historical connectivity to the region, but also a youthful perspective of the future. It is through Isacco’s philosophy that past and future intermingle so harmoniously in the glass.
