Tasting Notes: The Castellaro Bianco Pomice is a distinctive white wine from the Aeolian Islands, off the coast of Sicily, crafted as a blend of 60% Malvasia delle Lipari and 40% Carricante grapes. Its name is a homage to the pumice stone found on Lipari, reflecting the volcanic, sandy soils where the grapes are grown. The wine opens with a delightful aromatic intensity, showcasing notes of citrus, especially grapefruit, along with pear, pomelo, and a pronounced stony minerality. Hints of wildflowers and Mediterranean herbs like Mediterranean scrub also emerge. On the palate, the wine is dry, fresh, and lively, balanced by a roundness and richness imparted by the Malvasia and lees aging.
