Tasting Notes: Casa d’Ambra’s Ischia Rosso has unique notes of licorice, dark berries, thyme and hints of vanilla. Fuller in body but retains a velvety texture and a rounder tannic mouthfeel. This is a blend of Piedirosso and Guarnaccia Nera.
Estate History: At Casa d'Ambra, every bottle tells a story woven from the sun-drenched vines of Ischia. With an annual procurement of 5,000 tonnes of grapes from 150 local wine producers, their estate encompasses the verdant landscapes of Frassitelli, Montecorvo, and Calitto. These sprawling estates are dedicated to the cultivation and expansion of indigenous grape varieties, preserving the rich tapestry of Ischia's viticultural heritage.
Not content with mere preservation, Casa d'Ambra embarked on a quest for innovation, establishing a test field in the Frassitelli area in 1995. Here, a genetic bank was created, breathing new life into ancient varieties and ensuring their enduring legacy. From the robust Guarnaccia to the delicate Biancolella, each grape is hand-harvested with meticulous care, preserving its intrinsic quality from vineyard to bottle.
Under the watchful eye of Andrea d'Ambra, the entire production process unfolds seamlessly, culminating in wines that capture the essence of Ischia's terroir. As vintage approaches between September 20 and October 10, anticipation fills the air, heralding another chapter in Casa D'Ambra's storied journey.
