Tasting Notes: The "Leuconoe" is a crisp, light-bodied white wine that beautifully translates the inherent minerality and acidity of the Aglianico grape into a refreshing form. On the nose and palate, the wine offers vibrant primary notes of lime zest, grapefruit, and white peach, intermingled with delicate hints of lemon blossom and a distinct, stony minerality derived from its volcanic origins. This unique expression results in a bright and zesty profile that is both complex and invigorating.
Estate History: Cantine Madonna delle Grazie is an organic, family-run winery located in Venosa, within the Basilicata region of Southern Italy. The Latorraca family has been cultivating vineyards in the area since the early 1900s, but they formalized their commercial production and estate bottling in 2003, naming the venture after a nearby 16th-century monastery. Their vineyards are strategically planted on the volcanic slopes of Mount Vulture, an inactive volcano, utilizing the high altitude and rich soils to produce character-driven wines like the Aglianico-based "Leuconoe."
