Estate History: The Candeloro vineyard is situated in the tranquil mountain village of Vittorito, perched 600 meters above sea level on the mountainside. It took nearly three years to discover this 3-hectare plot, which is home to old vines of Camplese Bianco (the ancient predecessor of Trebbiano d'Abruzzo native to these mountains) and Peligno (the ancestral variety of the modern Montepulciano). These vines, planted in the 1950s and 1960s, thrive in soils dramatically different from those found in the hills of Pescara, where Vini Rabasco operates. The land here is rich in rocky granite deposits mixed with clay and sand, which have eroded down from the mountains.

Wine maker Simone cultivates wines that are a true reflection of his personality, vision, and connection to the land. They are pure, vibrant, and clean, telling the story of this secluded part of Abruzzo. These are mountain wines, crafted with a sense of independence and clarity that's hard to find. The name "Candeloro" holds family significance, as it was the surname of both of his grandmothers. "Parò," the name of his cuvées, refers to a fishing boat pilot, a title reserved for the most skilled captains in Pescara’s historic fishing port. It was also his grandfather's nickname, who was the most respected pilot of all.

Today, Simone and his family are still deeply rooted in the fishing community, with his brother Carmine running an excellent seafood restaurant called "Da Bacone"—a must-visit when you're in Pescara.
