Tasting Notes: The 2021 Brovia Barolo Garblèt Sue' offers a pure and fascinating aromatic profile of blue flowers, violets, wild berries, and rose petals, with underlying notes of ground clove, fine tobacco, and iron. The palate is focused and elegantly structured, delivering flavors of red cherry, cranberry, star anise, and a hint of blood orange supported by a firm, refined tannic structure that promises longevity. This is a wine of intensity and length, with a balanced and full-bodied character that remains fresh and vibrant through a long, mineral-driven finish.
Estate History: The Brovia estate was founded in 1863 in the village of Castiglione Falletto by Giacinto Brovia. The family remained involved in grape growing and wine production until production ceased for about 20 years due to economic upheaval, two World Wars, and the phylloxera plague. In 1953, the winery was revived by the founder's grandsons, Giacinto (an enologist) and Raffaele (an agronomist), who focused on quality wine production. Today, the fourth generation, represented by Giacinto's daughter Elena and her husband Alex Sanchez, continues the family legacy with a traditional approach to winemaking, emphasizing respect for terroir and the use of large oak casks for aging.
