Tasting Notes: Elegant and refined, Rivata’s Barolo is crafted from 50% Boiolo Cru and 50% estate-grown fruit from vineyards surrounding the winery. It opens with a distinctive spiced bouquet layered with red fruit and hints of cinnamon. On the palate, it’s dry, well-balanced. Only a small amount has made it into the US this vintage.
Estate History: This small family-run estate bridges the Langhe (La Morra) and Roero (Guarene), producing expressive wines with a distinct voice. In 2018, 29-year-old Giovanni took over the cellar, after gaining experience at top local wineries. Under his guidance, Borgogno Rivata shifted gears—abandoning chemicals in favor of copper and sulfur, adopting cleaner, bolder styles, and revamping their labels. The result? Wines with clarity, confidence, and a youthful edge.
