Tasting Notes: The Anselmi San Vincenzo offers a complex and vibrant profile, with expressive aromas of white peach, honeydew melon, pear, and elderflower. The palate is dry, medium-bodied, and refreshing, showcasing a lovely balance between citrus and stone fruit flavors, supported by crisp acidity and a distinct mineral tension derived from its volcanic and limestone soils. This harmonious blend of Garganega, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc delivers a persistent and clean finish, making it both highly drinkable and quietly complex.
Estate History: The Anselmi winery, located in the Soave region of the Veneto, was founded in 1948 by Marino Anselmi, who ran a successful but mass-production focused négociant business. The estate's quality revolution began in 1975 when Roberto Anselmi, the current owner and a self-described "rebel with a cause," joined the family business with a vision to focus solely on high-quality, estate-grown wines. Frustrated with the Soave DOC consortium's permissive rules that encouraged high yields and mediocrity, Roberto famously left the appellation in 2000 to label his wines simply as IGT Veneto, allowing him the freedom to innovate with modern viticultural techniques and specific grape blends. Today, Roberto, along with his children Lisa and Tommaso, continues to set the gold standard for Italian white wine quality, operating with organic farming principles (though not certified) and a commitment to expressing the unique character of their volcanic hillside vineyards.
