Tasting Notes: The Andrea Oberto Barolo presents an intense, bright garnet-red color and a fragrant bouquet of ripe cherries, violets, and subtle notes of leather, tar, and graphite that evolve over time. On the palate, the wine is complex and well-structured, featuring polished yet dense tannins, a firm body, and vibrant, fruity flavors that culminate in a long, lingering finish.
Estate History: The history of the Andrea Oberto winery began in 1959 when Andrea's father bought a farmhouse in La Morra, where the family sustained themselves through a mix of farming, growing peaches, and raising livestock. Andrea initially left the family farm to work as a truck driver, but the unexpected death of his father in 1978 brought him back to manage the estate. Recognizing the increasing demand for high-quality wine, Andrea decided to focus solely on viticulture, transforming the small farm into a respected wine company that now has around 14-16 hectares of vineyards and sells wines globally. Today, Andrea runs the winery with the help of his wife Ornella and their daughter Sara, while his son Fabio has started his own label, continuing the family's winemaking vision.
