The high amount of limestone within the soil along with the higher elevation and hands-on farming style creates a purely expressive form of Chianti that reveals fresher brighter cherries, violets, and a subtle earthiness. The finish is like a spark of animated acidity that creates a balance from the expressive of fruit found at the beginning of the palate. Consider this bottle versatile enough for anything from grilled white meats to bruschetta.
“From the earth, we came, to the earth we will return“. This is the motto of the Val delle Corti vineyards located in the commune of Radda within Chianti, Tuscany. The motto is a symbol of the winery’s connection to the earth in regards to their farming practices. They are certified organic with practices of biodynamic farming.
Radda is a lesser-known commune in Chianti where only a handful of producers can be found. The area is known for having soils filled with stony minerals and higher altitudes. In 1974 the Bianchi family moved from Milan to Radda to fulfill the dream of Giorgio Bianchi the father of current winemaker Robert Bianchi. At the time Giorgio was kicked out of the Chianti Classico DOCG due to the nature of his Chianti's style. The light colored high acid Chianti was not what the consortium found suitable to be labeled as Chianti Classico. The vineyard is neighbors to the famous vineyards of Montevertine Le Pergole Torte who was also outside of the Chianti consortium and refused to oblige by their rules. Today Val Delle Corti produces within the DOCG Chianti Classico but still remains true to the traditional method of production. Made from 95% Sangiovese grapes and 5% Canaiolo.
