Tasting Notes: 100% Ciliegiolo aged both in cement and amphora, this wine has an ample body with notes of black cherry, fig, and black currants. Savory on the finish with subtle hints of mediterranean herbs and a nice touch of tannins that bring the wine together.
Estate History: Founded in 1992 by filmmaker Reudi Gerber, Sequerciani began as a neglected eight-hectare property in Maremma, Tuscany. Determined to restore the land, Gerber transformed it into an organic farm, eventually earning Demeter biodynamic certification. With the expertise of local enologist Laura Rossi, Sequerciani has always produced natural wines, free from any artificial interventions.
At Sequerciani, the unique terroir provides the perfect environment for cultivating the vines that create natural wines. With young vines rooted in clay soil 200 meters above sea level, the vineyards bask in the sun by day and benefit from cool sea breezes at night, allowing the grapes to develop the ideal balance of sugar and acidity. This natural process is key to fermenting their grapes without the need for additives. The focus on naturally produced wines made from long-forgotten grapes like Pungitello, Ciliegiolo, and Foglia Tonda is what sets the estate apart from most found in the surrounding area.
