Tasting Notes: "Cuchen" Albanella, named after Alberto's brother, is a 100% Albanella wine from hills around Pesaro, Adriatic coast. Formerly mistaken for Trebbiano Toscana, recent DNA evidence links it to Elbling and Albariño. With floral and green apple notes, medium texture, and mineral finish, it undergoes cold maceration for two days, fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and is bottled unfined.

Estate History: Situated in Pesaro, just 10 kilometers away from Le Marche's Adriatic coast, Selvagrossa is a modest estate spanning five hectares of vineyards. In 2002, brothers Alberto and Alessandro Taddei inherited the estate from their grandparents, beginning their journey.
Sangiovese thrives alongside carefully chosen international grape varieties, benefiting from the region's terroir to craft exceptional wines with character. Their oldest-vine Sangiovese vineyard was planted in the early 70s by their father and grandfather. Over the years, they expanded their vineyards with more Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, taking advantage of the unique conditions of the Adriatic terroir characterized by cool summer nights and clay-rich soil.
Alberto's experience at Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence and later as a wine buyer in New York, combined with Alessandro's culinary expertise, provided them with a diverse perspective on the wine industry. Although not certified organic, they practice organic methods, cultivating cover crops and using organic treatments in the vineyards. Their wines undergo spontaneous fermentation with minimal SO2 added at bottling for stabilization.
