Tasting Notes: The wine is aged for 12 months in used barriques, the youngest of which is at least 5 years old, followed by another 12 months in large 2,000-liter barrels. Michele prefers to hold the wine a few years as well before release. The wine is notably rich, earthy, and mineral driven. Notes of fig, black olive, and prune are present but notes of licorice, turned earth, and tobacco leaf are as well. The tannins are powerful upon the initial opening but with air and of course, food, the wine will begin to show refinement and elegance.
