Tasting Notes: The I Vigneri Salvo Foti Vinupetra Viti Centenaire is the top wine from Etna legend Salvo Foti. Working from a stony 0.2-hectare section of vines in the Calderara cru, Salvo Foti believes that many of these are the oldest producing vines on Etna estimating that some may be over 250 years old. The wine unravels in the glass slowly at first showing dried flowers and exotic spices before moving into ripe plums, and wild herbs. The texture is very smooth, yet the balance on the palate is precise with just the right amount of lift provided by the acidity. This stunning wine is quite enjoyable now but will grow more expressive with a few years in the cellar.
