Tasting Notes: Gaudioso’s Zibibbo expresses notes of white flowers, orange peel, honeysuckle, and subtle notes of sea-spray. Zibibbo is the Sicilian dialect for Muscat of Alexandria. Though this grape is most famously vinified as a sweet wine, Gaudioso ferments their Zibibbo to dryness, making it an ideal pairing for medium-heat curries, spicy seafood pasta, and Sicilian eggplant caponata.
Estate History: The Gaudioso family operates a farm in Partanna–a small community in southwest Sicily, where they employ biodynamic methods for cultivating grapes, olives, and raising sheep in a humane manner. Their profound reverence for nature has led them to abandon the use of synthetic fertilizers and chemical pesticides, opting instead to manage the land in harmony with natural cycles. They utilize only green manure, compost, and biodynamic preparations to enrich and nurture the soil, resorting to copper and sulfur solely when necessary to combat disease.
