Tasting Notes: The 2019 Collemattoni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Fontelontano offers a powerful and sophisticated aromatic profile, unfolding with deep, concentrated notes of black cherry, plum, and wild berries, interwoven with hints of vanilla bean, rich earth, and exotic spices. On the palate, this full-bodied wine showcases a complex structure with beautifully integrated, velvety tannins supporting a dense core of dark fruit flavors. The finish is remarkably long and persistent, leaving lingering impressions of tobacco leaf, dried herbs, and minerality, promising substantial evolution with further cellar aging.
Estate History: Created by Aldo Bucci in 1982, Collemattoni takes its name from a farmhouse, which dates to at least 1672, the year in which it is registered in the parish archives as a family home. Collemattoni is located on a hilltop on the south side of the municipal area of Montalcino, just a short distance from the village of Sant’Angelo in Colle at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,200 feet. The small estate produces two wines: Brunello and Rosso, combined with an extra virgin olive oil and a Grappa di Brunello. It was certified organic in 2011.
