Tasting Notes: Crafted from biodynamic vineyards and aged for 51 months in old oak botti before bottling. This wine is released 6 years after the harvest, and represents the pinnacle expression of Sangiovese from the estate. 2018 was a sleeper vintage, the wines are off the charts, open and pliable (for Brunello) marking this as one of the wines you can open now, or rest for 5 years for maximum enjoyment.

Estate History: Giuseppe Maria "Giugi" Sesti is a true Renaissance man. Though he has always had an appreciation for wine, he spent the first half of his life immersing himself in the wonders of music, fine art, and the stars. While working on his first astronomy book, he met his future wife in North Wales. In 1975, Giugi and Sarah relocated their family to Tuscany, where they purchased the abandoned ruins of Argiano's hamlet and castle. With a lot of sweat, elbow grease, and sheer persistence, they transformed the land and restored its run-down structures to their former greatness, resulting in the remarkable estate that stands today.
By the time they’d planted their vineyards, Giugi, now a father of four, also held the position of vice-director at a local Baroque opera festival while actively penning his own astronomically themed body of literature. Despite his busy schedule, he still managed to find time to visit nearby wineries and assist his neighbors in the vineyards and cellar. How he managed to find time to brush his teeth, comb his hair, or eat remains a mystery. As he gained more experience in the vineyard, his passion for wine deepened, prompting him to plant his own vines on the slopes surrounding the castle in 1991.
In 1999, the couple's only daughter, Elisa, joined the estate on a full-time basis. Today, she actively collaborates as a partner in all aspects of vineyard management and winemaking.
While assisting at neighboring estates, Giugi noticed that simplicity and meticulous attention were crucial in producing exceptional wines. He believed that chemical intervention disrupted the delicate balance of wines, and thus he committed himself to crafting completely natural wines right from the beginning. Taking his commitment a step further, he utilized his extensive knowledge of the moon's impact on living organisms to inform his vineyard management and winemaking practices. Today, the family upholds this eco-friendly philosophy, although they haven't pursued an official certification that meets their personal standards.
