Estate History: Deirdre O’Brien and Maurizio Caffer are ex-pats from Ireland that have run their organic/ biodynamic farm in Villamiroglio, a village in the hills of Monferrato in Piedmont, since 2014. On their estate, named Cascina Val Liberata, they grow fruit, vegetables, make honey and have rejuvenated an old vineyard on the property, planting it with the rare Slarina grape alongside Nebbiolo and Grignolino.
