Tasting Notes: From vineyards of the same name, Doccio a Matteo is a throwback to Chianti as it once was made, with Sangiovese making up the lion's share, and small amounts of the dark skinned Colorino and a touch of the white Ancellota grape in the blend. Lifted and powerful, this old-school wine is simply off the charts amazing, wild, and energetic with the ability to age for 25 years or more.
Estate History: Paolo Cianferoni of Caparsa is based in Radda, where he produces some of the most distinctive Sangiovese made in Chianti Classico. Earth driven, wild and plush these wines drink beautifully at any point in their evolution. The emphasis of the Caparsa winery is the Chianti Classico Riserva, from 100% Sangiovese, which can age for a decade or more. The Doccio a Matteo Riserva wines are crafted with an intention to highlight the region's historic past by blending in white Ancellota grapes alongside Sangiovese and Colorino. This gives the wine an impressive lift of aromatics and lightens the richness. Organic certified in the vineyard and cellar, these are simply electric in the bottle, totally singular, and some of the tastiest wines we have ever had from Tuscany.
