Tasting Notes: While its alcoholic strength gives it a very long shelf life, it is not too high to make it a highly enjoyable, smooth, round product with a lovely bitter-sweet balance in the mouth. Its very intense, complex nose features the aroma of calisaya bark, while also showing clear hints of cinnamon, cloves (very noticeable on the taste too), nutmeg and aromatic herbs.
Estate History: Among the splendid rolling hills of the Langhe, in the heart of Piedmont, stands the beautiful Fontanafredda estate, which once belonged to King Vittorio Emanuele II who n turn gave it to Rosa Vercellana, a commoner with whom he had fallen madly in love. An ancient love story, kept alive by the modern Fontanafredda team, with particular attention to that desire to renew and improve that which has always distinguished the company, now a point of reference in the Langa area. Here, indeed the passion for wine, for the land and for tradition finds its most concrete expression.
