Tasting Notes: Braulio Riserva is the aged version of the famous alpine bitter created from the herbs of Monte Braulio, in the heart of the Stelvio National Park in Valtellina. Comprised of a recipe from pharmacist Francesco Peloni, which remains secret and unchanged, of which only some herbs and plants are known such as juniper, achillea moscata, absinthe and gentian root.
To produce Braulio Riserva, the liqueur is aged in small Slavonian oak barrels. Subsequently it is filtered very gently to preserve the plant components. The flavor is deep, with bitter notes set against a backdrop of herbal, medicinal and toffee flavors, this bitter is remarkable for its long and bright, pine-like finish.
