Tasting Notes: The Sergio Drago Rosso di Botte is a blend of Nero D’Avola and Syrah aged in large botte (French oak) before release. The result is a wine with fine tannins, black currants, and subtle notes of spice and herbs.
Estate History: Alcamo, situated between Marsala and Palermo, is the quintessentila growing area for the Sicilian indigenous grape Catarratto. Based in this region, Sergio Drago produces wines completely organically, while not certified, his ethos is clear. No intervention in the vineyard or the cellar. Sergio produces four wines from vines that sit on extremely calcareous soil. Production is very small and he wants to keep it that way, limiting production to 4,000 bottles total.
