Tasting Notes: The top wine of the estate, from one of the best vineyard sites in Chianti, the Selvanella is loaded with red currant, violet and tea leaf aromas. The palate is bright and fresh, with pliant tannins and a rich backbone of fruit balanced with a tart acidity.
Estate History: The Melini family has been growing grapes in Tuscany since about 1705. In 1860, Adolfo Laborel Melini began bottling the estate's wines in the distinctive straw-wrapped Chianti bottles that later became synonymous with Chianti wines. The estate was sold to Gruppo Italiano Vini in the early 20th century.
