Tasting Notes: The Tenuta di Valgiano Mazzapink has pulpy notes of strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, and black pepper. On the palate, flavors of candied violet, juicy blood orange, garrigue, rhubarb. Excellent with Margherita pizza, pork belly, grilled vegetables, and Parmigiano-Reggiano. The label been beautifully designed by artist Sara di Giovanni and depicts the town of Lucca with the biodynamic horn and a hilly Tuscan backdrop.
Estate History: Since the early 1990s, Laura di Collobiano, Moreno Petrini, and winemaker-viticulturist Saverio Petrilli have transformed Valgiano, a remarkable 16th-century estate in Tuscany, into one of the region’s most respected producers. Laura and Moreno, who once worked in luxury industries and traveled the world, found their home in the rolling hills above Lucca, where they restored a forgotten vineyard and Renaissance villa. Located within the Colline Lucchesi DOC, Valgiano enjoys a unique combination of limestone and sandstone soils, abundant sunlight, and crystal-clear mountain water from nearby Monte Barbona. These natural advantages led the team to adopt organic practices in 1997 and biodynamic farming in 2002, deepening their commitment to harmony with the land. In the cellar, traditional techniques and minimal intervention allow the wines to express their origin—anchored in Sangiovese, complemented by Syrah and Merlot, reflecting both Tuscan heritage and a touch of French influence.
