Tasting Notes: The 2019 vintage showcases a profoundly structured core marked by robust aromas of roasted coffee beans, red and black cherries, wood smoke, and wild raspberries. The medium- to full-bodied palate delivers dense, velvety tannins balanced by a crisp, lively freshness that keeps the deep layers of fruit preserves and leather remarkably vibrant. The finish is long, precise, and beautifully austere, leaving a lingering impression of licorice and flinty minerality.
Estate History: Piancornello is located in the southern zone of Montalcino, specifically in the zone of Sesta, nestled between Sant'Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Established in 1950 when the Pieri family purchased the land, the estate is currently managed by third-generation winemaker Claudio Rossi, who took over in the 1990s. The property spans approximately 10 hectares of steep, south-facing volcanic soils and stone terraces that benefit from a warm microclimate and sea breezes, allowing the Sangiovese grapes to ripen fully while maintaining excellent structure.
