Tasting Notes: This elegant and complex Grand Cru Champagne, a blend of predominantly Pinot Noir with a touch of Chardonnay, offers a captivating aromatic profile of bright citrus, yellow apples, and ripe stone fruits, interwoven with delicate notes of dried flowers, hazelnut, brioche, and a chalky minerality. The palate is full-bodied yet refined, with a creamy mousse and vibrant acidity that carries flavors of Meyer lemon, honeysuckle, red cherries, and hints of spice, leading to an achingly long and persistent finish marked by saline and flinty mineral notes. The overall experience is one of remarkable balance and depth, showcasing the rich, expressive character of the Bouzy terroir. Enjoy responsibly.
Estate History: The Bara family has been rooted in the village of Bouzy since at least the 1600s, with Auguste François Bara arriving in 1833 and the current property being established in 1860. It was Paul Bara, the father of the current owner Chantale, who first began selling Champagne under the family brand name in the 1950s, a rare move for a récoltant-manipulant (grower-producer) at the time. Today, the house remains a family-owned, seventh-generation business, managed by Chantale Bara, who continues to craft highly-regarded Champagnes exclusively from their 11 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards in Bouzy, a village widely recognized as the capital of high-quality Pinot Noir in the Montagne de Reims.
