The wine is made from the Glera grape, which is the same grape used to make Prosecco. However, unlike Prosecco, which is typically made using the Charmat method, where the secondary fermentation takes place in a tank, Col Fondo wines are bottled before fermentation is complete, which results in a slightly cloudy appearance due to the presence of yeast sediment.
