Tasting Notes: The Le Piane Boca Riserva Antonio Cerri presents a complex and elegant profile, with an intense ruby-red color and a red-orange rim. The bouquet offers notes of well-matured forest fruits, violets, tobacco, and dried herbs, complemented by hints of balsam and a distinct citrus note. On the palate, power and a silky elegance unfold, revealing flavors of wild berries, leather, and a noble, long finish. The wine is balanced with a fine acidic structure and complex tannins that provide a long, persistent finish.
Estate History: The Boca wine region in Northern Piedmont was once a thriving viticultural area that was almost entirely abandoned by the 1980s due to phylloxera and industrialization in nearby cities. Antonio Cerri was one of the last vignerons remaining in the area, dedicated to preserving the local winemaking traditions. In the late 1990s, Swiss wine merchant Christoph Künzli and his friend Alexander Trolf visited Cerri, tasted his exceptional wines, and decided to carry on his legacy. After Cerri's passing in 1998, Künzli purchased the estate and has painstakingly expanded the vineyards to revitalize the Boca DOC region, producing the flagship wine from the original Antonio Cerri vineyards.
