Tasting Notes: Riesling Italico, or Italian Riesling, is unrelated to Riesling-Riesling; even more confusingly, many wine historians believe the grape’s origins to be French, not Italian. It is most widely grown in Central Europe, with strongholds in Croatia and Slovenia. Just across the Slovenian border, in Friuli-Venezia’s iconic Oslavia, Klanjscek has transformed this little-known grape into a delightfully complex orange wine. This wine drips with honey, orange blossom, apricot, dried pineapple, and apple rings.
