Tasting Notes: The Collemattoni Rosso di Montalcino is an intense ruby red, expressive Tuscan wine that offers a rich, full-bodied experience. The nose is persistent, revealing vibrant aromas of ripe strawberries, red cherries, and wild black fruits, all framed by subtle notes of violet flowers, licorice, and a hint of white pepper. On the palate, the wine is dry, warm, and well-balanced, presenting a more structured profile this vintage with fine-grained, firm, and chewy tannins integrated with lively acidity and fresh minerality. It's a character-filled wine with a pleasant and lasting finish, best enjoyed now or over the next few years.
Estate History: Created by Aldo Bucci in 1982, Collemattoni takes its name from a farmhouse, which dates to at least 1672, the year in which it is registered in the parish archives as a family home. Collemattoni is located on a hilltop on the south side of the municipal area of Montalcino, just a short distance from the village of Sant’Angelo in Colle at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,200 feet. The small estate produces two wines: Brunello and Rosso, combined with an extra virgin olive oil and a Grappa di Brunello. It was certified organic in 2011.
