Tasting Notes: This organic Sangiovese shows a brilliant ruby red color, leading into complex, inviting aromas of crunchy red fruits like wild strawberry and marasca cherry jam. Delicate floral nuances, mineral hints, and subtle notes of Mediterranean brush and white pepper add sophisticated layers to the bouquet. On the palate, the wine delivers a harmonious and balanced experience, showing refined, elegant tannins alongside a lively, savory freshness. The finish is long and persistent, leaving behind a clean, minerally trail that highlights the vibrant, dynamic energy of the vintage.
Estate History: The historic fortress at the center of the Castello Tricerchi property was originally started in the thirteenth century by the Altesi family and fully completed in 1441 by the Tricerchi family, who belonged to Siena's influential ruling oligarchy. Situated on the northern slopes of the Montalcino appellation, the estate once served as a vital sanctuary for medieval pilgrims journeying to Rome along the Via Francigena. The magnificent structure, officially declared an Italian artistic and historical heritage site in 1982, remains in the hands of the direct descendants, the Squarcia family. Today, the family manages 400 hectares of land, utilizing the castle's authentic 15th-century dungeon cellars to naturally age their traditional, estate-grown wines.
