Tasting Notes: From the beautiful Le Coste cru in Santo Stefano in Roero are these unique sandy soils where 35-year-old Nebbiolo vines are planted. After the grapes are hand selected, maceration and fermentation take place with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks for one month, followed by 18 months in large, old French oak. On the nose there are plenty of fresh red berries, cherries, and dried strawberries. This is accented by forest floor, bay leaf, rose petals and a touch of vanilla bean. It’s a captivating and finely balanced wine which combines effortlessly aromatic richness and elegant grippy tannins.

Estate History:  Alberto Oggero bottled his first wine in 2009. A young, enthusiastic winemaker from Canale, in Piemonte, his goal is to create wines that combine drinkability with a strong expression of terroir; savory and soulful renditions of Arneis and Nebbiolo unique to the Roero. Alberto spent his childhood following his grandfather, Sandro, through the family vineyards, spending as much time as possible among the vines. Alberto's parents never went into wine, so when Sandro sadly passed away in 1999, Alberto, who had just finished a degree in enology in Alba, decided to return home and take over the family's 2ha of vineyards. In the sandy limestone vineyards, all the farming is organic, and, in the cellar, only native yeasts are used, with no fining or filtration.
