Tasting Notes: This elegant white wine displays a pale straw-yellow hue and opens with a vivid bouquet of honeysuckle, verbena, and white spring blossoms. The medium-bodied palate offers a rounded texture with layers of ripe pear, honeydew melon, and nectarine, accented by a distinct mineral-driven core. Subtle nuances of blood orange, lime peel, and ground ginger provide a refreshing vibrancy that carries through to a precise finish. Notes of hazelnut and a light savoriness add complexity, ensuring the wine remains balanced and mouthwatering without feeling overly heavy.
Estate History: Founded in 1142 by the Augustinian Order of Canons Regular, Abbazia di Novacella (also known as Kloster Neustift) is one of the oldest active wineries in the world. Located in the northernmost vineyards of Italy within the Isarco Valley, the abbey was originally established as a refuge for pilgrims traveling across the Alps. The Augustinian canons, who follow the Rule of Saint Augustine, have managed the estate for nearly 900 years, integrating viticulture with education and spiritual service. Today, the winery is renowned for its net-zero carbon footprint and focus on aromatic whites cultivated on steep, glacial moraine soils, led by acclaimed enologist Celestino Lucin.
