Tasting Notes: Greco di Tufo, along with neighboring Fiano di Avellino, is considered one of the best white wine appellations in southern Italy. Named for both the volcanic tuff which marks its vineyards’ soil and the appellation’s signature grape, Greco, these wines glow with an intense minerality, salinity, and aromas of fresh chopped herbs and citrus. Cantine dell’Angelo is a particularly full-bodied iteration of the style. A year of lees aging and an additional year of bottle-aging have given this wine a nose ripe with bread crust, pastry dough, and saffron.
